Dr. Matta is the Director of the New York Eye Institute. Dr. Matta completes medical school and his internship at Ain Shams University , School of Medicine . Dr. Matta's residency was completed at Albert Einstein college of Medicine at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and the state University of New York , Stony Brook, at the Nassau University Medical Center . He then went on to complete a fellowship in Anterior Segment and Cornea & Refraction at the Bucci Cataract and Laser Vision Institute in Pennsylvania . Dr. Matta is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Matta Specializes in Cataract, Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Corneal Transplants, medical and laser retina surgery, including LASIK, PRK, PTK , AK , and lens exchange therapy. He has been certified in GLORY LASIK by the International Society of Refractive Surgery, C-LASIK by Bausch & Lomb, and has a certification in the VISX Excimer Laser System. He is also trained in several micro-keratomes.
Dr. Matta is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, The international Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the New York Ophthalmological Society and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Matta is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in New York , New Jersey , Pennsylvania and Florida . Dr. Matta is a member of the staff of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Nyack Hospital, GoodSamaritan Hospital, Surgicare Center of Mahwah, St. Mary's Eye and Surgery Center and Hackensack University Medical Center.
